In June 2002, the International Conference on the Bearing Capacity of Roads, Railways, and Airfields (BCRA) was held in Lisbon, Portugal. The conference provided us with the opportunity to meet and interact with many people representing various Universities, State and Federal Road Authorities and other Consultancies from all over the world. We were able to establish that our testing, analysis and design methodologies compared well with those used by the various international delegates at the conference. Since the conference we have maintained contact with some of the other delegates to keep up to date with emerging technologies and analysis methods from around the world.
